About the course
The advanced international training course Human Rights for Development (HR4DEV) aims at promoting knowledge, insight and skills in the field of human rights (including children's rights) and at developing young leaders in policy, practice and academia, to enable them to pass on this knowledge and skills to their own society (according to the train-the-trainers model), on the one hand, and to stimulate critical and strategic reflection on the integration of human rights (including children's rights) in their professional activities, on the other. HR4DEV is not exclusively organised for participants from the South. We explicitly choose to expose participants from North and South to the views of participants from other continents. Information, knowledge and means that are relevant in both North and South are shared.

Summer School 2013 on 'Strategic Human Rights Litigation', Budapest, 15 - 19 July 2013
 
The course is aimed at young practitioners, ideally with three to five years’ experience in human rights cases. The course will encourage participants to approach human rights litigation strategically, viewing litigating a human rights case as one step in the process of achieving social change. It will include modules that examine the steps involved in strategic litigation, specialist seminars on topics such as torture, arrest rights, freedom of expression, discrimination and migration, as well as a series of smaller discussion groups or individual consultation sessions where participants can get feedback on particular issues which they face in their cases.

Eurochild is an international non-governmental organisation, which promotes the well-being and rights of children and young people at the European level and, through its membership, in the European countries. Eurochild is looking for an intern to assist in the development and implementation of Eurochild policy priorities, which currently include political advocacy on child poverty and well-being, campaign on quality alternative care for children and mainstreaming of children’s rights in all EU processes.

About HRI
Global Challenge of Human Rights Integration: Towards a Users' Perspective is an Interuniversity Attraction Pole (IAP) funded by the Belgian Science Policy Office (BELSPO). It consists of Universiteit Gent (UGent), Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Universiteit Antwerpen (UA), Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis (FUSL) and Universiteit Utrecht (UU). It aims to study human rights law as an integrated whole from a users’ perspective.

HRI organizes a half-day training session which will focus on adopting a users' perspective in human rights research. Keynote speaker is Dr. Tarlach Mc Gonagle of the Institute for Information Law of the University of Amsterdam. Respondent is Prof. dr. Dirk Voorhoof of the Centre for Journalism Studies and the Human Rights Centre of Ghent University. The training is primarily aimed at PhD and post-doctoral researchers of the HRI project, but other interested participants are also welcome.

About the STL
The Special Tribunal for Lebanon is a tribunal of international character. The STL was inaugurated on 1 March 2009 and has four organs:
• Chambers
• The Office of the Prosecutor
• The Defence Office
• Registry
The STL's headquarters are on the outskirts of The Hague, the Netherlands and the tribunal also has an office in Beirut, Lebanon.

Its primary mandate is to hold trials for the people accused of carrying out the attack of 14 February 2005 which killed 23 people, including the former prime minister of Lebanon, Rafiq Hariri, and injured many others.

Fair Trials International (FTI) is a dynamic human rights charity which campaigns for the better protection of fair trial rights. Over the past four years, Fair Trials has grown considerably and developed an effective and respected law reform function, influencing law and policy on cross‐border judicial cooperation and procedural rights, through a combination of public campaigns, political lobbying and strategic litigation.
We have exciting plans to develop these activities and are looking to recruit a Head of Law Reform to lead this work. This senior role will provide the opportunity to shape the charity’s overall strategic direction with responsibility for all law reform activities. It is a varied and challenging role and you will lead an excellent team of colleagues, including two full‐time Law Reform Officers, interns and volunteers.
